Severe Forms Of Acne

Severe forms of acne are rare, but they inflict great hardship to the people who experience them.

Acne Conglobata: This is the most severe form of acne vulgaris and is more common in males. It is characterized by numerous large lesions, which are sometimes interconnected, along with widespread blackheads. It can cause severe, irrevocable damage to the skin, and disfiguring scarring. It is found on the face, chest, back, buttocks, upper arms, and thighs. The age of onset for acne conglobata is usually between 18 to 30 years, and the condition can stay active for many years. As with all forms of acne, the cause of acne conglobata is unknown. Treatment usually includes isotretinoin (Accutane), and although acne conglobata is sometimes resistant to treatment, it can often be controlled through aggressive treatment over time.

Acne Fulminans: This is an abrupt onset of acne conglobata which normally afflicts young men. Symptoms of severe nodulocystic, often ulcerating acne are apparent. As with acne conglobata, extreme, disfiguring scarring is common. Acne fulminans is unique in that it also includes a fever and aching of the joints. Acne fulminans does not respond well to antibiotics. Isotretinoin (Accutane) and oral steroids are normally prescribed.

Gram-Negative Folliculitis: This condition is a bacterial infection characterized by pustules and cysts, possibly occurring as a complication resulting from a long term antibiotic treatment of acne vulgaris. It is a rare condition, and we do not know if it is more common in males or females at this time. Fortunately, isotretinoin (Accutane) is often effective in combating gram-negative folliculitis.

Pyoderma Faciale (Rosacea Fulminans): This type of severe facial acne affects only females, usually between the ages of 20 to 40 years old, and is characterized by large painful nodules, pustules, and sores, all of which may scar. It begins abruptly, and may occur on the skin of a woman who has never had acne before. It is confined to the face, and usually does not last longer than one year, but can wreak havoc in a very short time. Doctors often prescribe isotretinoin (Accutane) and systemic corticosteroids are sometimes use an an adjunct.

Types Of Acne

Acne Vulgaris - mild

Acne Vulgaris is the most common form of acne. Acne vulgaris lesions include blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts.

Mild to Moderate acne vulgaris consists of the following types of acne spots:

Whiteheads: Whiteheads result when a pore is completely blocked, trapping sebum (oil), bacteria, and dead skin cells, causing a white appearance on the surface. Whiteheads are normally quicker in life cycle than blackheads. You can view a diagram of a whitehead on the what is acne page. The Regimen provides a step-by-step program on how to treat whiteheads.

Blackheads: Blackheads result when a pore is only partially blocked, allowing some of the trapped sebum (oil), bacteria, and dead skin cells to slowly drain to the surface. The black color is not caused by dirt. Rather, it is the skin's own pigment, melanin, reacting with the oxygen in the air. A blackhead tends to be a stable structure, and can often take a long time to clear. You can view a diagram of a blackhead on the what is acne page. The Regimen provides a step-by-step program on how to treat blackheads.

Papules: Papules are inflamed, red, tender bumps with no head. Do not squeeze a papule. It will do no good, and may exacerbate scarring. The Regimen provides a step-by-step program on how to treat papules.

Pustules: A pustule is inflamed, and appears as a red circle with a white or yellow center. Pustules are your garden variety zit. Before you pop or squeeze such a lesion, be sure to read about how to pop a pimple. The Regimen provides a step-by-step program on how to treat pustules.

Acne Vulgaris - Severe

Severe acne vulgaris is characterized by nodules and cysts:

Nodules: As opposed to the lesions mentioned above, nodular acne consists of acne spots which are much larger, can be quite painful, and can sometimes last for months. Nodules are large, hard bumps under the skin's surface. Scarring is common. Unresolved nodules can sometimes leave an impaction behind, which can flare again and again. Absolutely do not attempt to squeeze such a lesion. You may cause severe trauma to the skin and the lesion may last for months longer than it normally would. Dermatologists often have ways of lessening swelling and preventing scarring, such as injecting the lesion with cortisone.

Cysts: An acne cyst can appear similar to a nodule, but is pus-filled, and is described as having a diameter of 5mm or more across. They can be painful. Again, scarring is common with cystic acne. Squeezing an acne cyst may cause a deeper infection and more painful inflammation which will last much longer than if you had left it alone. Dermatologists often have ways of lessening swelling and preventing scarring

Acne Rosacea

Acne Rosacea can look similar to the aforementioned acne vulgaris, and the two types of acne are sometimes confused for one another.

Rosacea affects millions of people, most of whom are over the age of 30. It appears as a red rash which is normally confined to the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. The redness is often accompanied by bumps, pimples, and skin blemishes. Blood vessels may also become more visible on the skin. Blackheads are not part of rosacea. It is more prevalent in women, but often more severe when found in men. Left untreated, it can cause swelling of the nose and the growth of excess tissue, a condition called rhinophyma. Treatment is often different for rosacea than for acne, and it is important that you consult a dermatologist if you suspect you are experiencing rosacea.

Acne Medicine

Acne Medicine Without Side Effects
By Ingrid
Be gentle with your skin and take advice from a trusted skin specialist to find a suitable acne medicine with no ill effects elsewhere. Avoid the use of new formulations that have not been tested since the degree of side effects will not be clear in these cases.

Topical creams

These creams work to dry out the excessive oil secreted by the sebaceous glands and dry out the eruption. This treatment is useful for occasional skin eruptions and is relatively free of side effects. Excessive use of these creams can lead to the skin feeling dry and taut. This acne medicine can act as an effective quick short term remedy for minor acne related issues. Some cosmetics use an oily base which can worsen your condition. Ask specialist to suggest water based cosmetics that are unlikely to affect your skin condition. If you face regular skin eruptions, avoid cosmetics altogether.

Antibiotics

This is an effective acne medicine to fight bacterial infection that has occurred in the acne. The reduced infection has an almost immediate effect on the appearance of acne on the skin. However, you have to exercise great caution to avoid infecting your skin after the treatment is completed. When you are taking antibiotics, your doctor will recommend that you have the medicines with cold milk and avoid foods that irritate the stomach. This is important to avoid acidity that can affect you for a long time after the treatment. Be aware of the effects of prolonged antibiotic treatment

and utilising the medication without adhering to the necessary dosage.

Herbal treatments

Some herbs are known to clear out acne by sorting out internal imbalances. These are considered to be safe since they are herbal. However, do remember that all treatments involve the use of chemicals and require to be used under the supervision of a specialist in skin conditions. Another danger is that you may not be aware of allergies that you have beforehand, therefore, you must exercise caution by trying the treatments one by one and ensuring that there is no reaction before trying the next acne medicine.

Home remedies

Cleansers like milk mixed with lime juice can be excessively drying if you add excess lime. Home remedies are useful and with the use of everyday food items, less likely to cause allergic reactions. However, be wary of items that you have not used or consumed in the past. Before you apply a mix on your skin, carry out a patch test and check that you do not have any adverse reactions for 24 hours after the patch test is done. Redness, itchiness and a feeling of dryness are signs that a remedy is not suiting you. Avoid oily food, baked products (these are high in fat), excessive consumption of chocolates and caffeine in conjunction with the use of acne medicine. Some remedies involve the use of steaming the skin and warming products before application. Check the temperature to ensure that it is not too warm since some mistakes can cause permanent skin damage.

Types of acne

Acne starts in a similar way for all but can take different forms and can react in a unique way according to the body conditions of the individual. A basic lesion called the comedo is the begining of acne. The comedo is an enlarged hair follicle plugged with oil and bacteria residing under the surface of your skin, that waits for the right conditions to grow into an inflamed lesion. Whenever the skin produces more oil, the bacteria grows within the swollen follicle. The surrounding skin becomes increasingly inflamed as your white blood cells fight against the intruders. Two main types of acne include non-inflammatory acne and inflammatory acne.

Non-inflammatory acne

Closed comedo:

If the plugged follicle stays below the surface of the skin, the lesion is called a closed comedo. This usually appears on the skin as small, whitish bumps. This condition is otherwise called as whitehead.

Open comedo :

If the plug enlarges and pushes through the surface of the skin, the lesion is called an open comedo. The dark appearance of the plug is not due to dirt, but due to the buildup of melanin, the pigmentation element of the skin. This condition is otherwise called as blackhead.

Inflammatory acne

Papule:

This appears on the skin as a small, firm pink bump. The papules are tender in nature and are often considered an intermediary step between non-inflammatory and clearly inflammatory lesions.

Pustule:

These are small round lesions that are inflamed and contain visible pus, which appear red at the base with a yellowish or

whitish center. Pustules do not contain a large amount of bacteria. The inflammation is caused by chemical irritation from sebum components such as fatty free acids.

Cyst:

These are large pus-filled lesions that are usually present deep within the skin. The cysts are very painful lesions, as they are inflamed. Cysts form as a result of the contents of a comedo spilling over the surrounding skin and due to the response of the local immune system in producing pus. The cysts often leave deep scars.

Acne conglobata:

This is a rare but serious form of inflammatory acne that develops primarily on the back, buttocks, and chest. In addition, to the presence of pustules and cysts, there may be severe bacterial infection.

Symptoms

The common symptoms of acne include persistent, recurrent red spots or swellings on the skin known as pimples. The pimples become inflamed and get filled with pus. The pimples usually occur on the face, chest, shoulders, neck, or upper portion of the back. Some of the other symptoms include dark spots with open pores at the center, which are known as blackheads, bulged spots under the skin without openings, which are known as whiteheads, and red swellings or lumps filled with pus, which are known as pustules. The pustules can develop from blackheads or whiteheads. Inflamed fluid-filled lumps under the skin known as cysts are also a symptom of acne. These cysts can become as large as an inch across.

How To Clear Acne - Can The Time You Go To Sleep Cause Acne?
By J Jones
Many studies and theories exist about how to clear acne. One of these is the time you go to sleep and the bio rhythms that occur in your body. It sounds far fetched but if you read on you'll see why it's not so strange and simply changing your sleeping patterns can be a beneficial step in how to clear acne. There are biological rhythms that control our bodies and here are just a few examples of these rhythms of which there are over 1000:

1. hormones adrenaline and cortisol are naturally released during the early morning hours to promote physical activity.

2. Most digestive enzymes are released during the hours of the day.

3. The hormone serotonin is released in response to natural daylight.

4. The hormone melatonin that promotes sleep is secreted in response to the darkness of night.

The changes in melatonin and serotonin tell cells whether it is dark or light outside and how active they should be. The health of each cells and therefore the body depends on whether we allow the body to follow the natural rhythms of day and night.

If you're

not going to sleep until the early hours and getting up late in the afternoon can you see how this can cause hormonal imbalances. This in turn is likely to increase the likelihood of developing acne among other things.

If you've ever had abnormal sleeping patterns for days then you'll know you just don't feel right. You feel out of sync and this causes you to develop illnesses and conditions such as acne easier.

I'm a strong believer that improving your health should be part of your acne treatment. It's not only an easy step on how to clear acne but it's also cheap and effective.

Taking heed of your biological rhythms and making sure you don't cause an imbalance is a prime example of the actions you should take to treat acne.

When you think about how much more productive you are when you get up early and how lazy and negative you feel when you get up late, shows just how much these internal processes affect you.

Simply going to bed and waking up early may not be enough on its own to get rid of acne, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.

Get Rid Of Acne - Natural Ways To Clear Your Skin With Herbs
By Fleur Samou
If you want to get rid of your acne, natural ways are a great option to clear your skin. Common pharmaceutical products can cause some nasty side effects that are actually worse than the acne. Natural ways are much softer on the body, have fewer, if any side effects and are usually a lot cheaper. Let's take a look at some herbs that can clear up your skin or even get rid of your acne problem completely.

Especially in Asia, the herbs I'll be talking about have been used for over 5000 years. They were used, and are still being used, for different reasons like clearing up the skin, but also to treat other health issues. If you want to use herbs to clear up your acne, natural ways could involve the following herbs; basil, sandalwood, lavender, tea tree oil.

Basil - This herb has been used for a whole variety of reasons. The most important being that it kills bacteria. Note that bacteria may be at the root of your skin issues. These bacteria can be carried throughout your whole body in your blood, so it's good to know that the basil actually helps to clear the blood as well. For many years, basil tea has proven to be a

very productive solution to solve problems like this. And if you're interested in mud baths as well, it's nice to know that the soil where the basil grows becomes so pure that it is famous for its healing mud baths.

Sandalwood - This comes from the bark of the Sandalwood tree. A lot of people like to use this herb in aromatherapy. If you spread the substance on your skin, you'll notice it will have a healthy glow that lasts for quite a bit. More importantly than the healthy glow, is the fact that the sandalwood is indeed healing your skin.

Lavender - Most people know this herb for its lovely smell. So you'll be pleased to know it also helps to reduce inflammation and has some antiseptic properties. This will certainly help reduce acne. If you don't like the smell of sandalwood, then try lavender instead to help heal your skin.

Tea Tree Oil - Very popular for various reasons and probably the best-known herb to treat acne. Thanks to its antibacterial properties and the fact that it is antiseptic in nature, tea tree oil is a very effective remedy for acne. Don't apply it directly to the skin without diluting it though.
These were just four herbal remedies to get rid of acne. Natural ways to solve a health issue can vary in success from one person to the next, so it's important to try different ways. If you want more quick and easy tips on getting rid of acne naturally, go to natural-cures-for-acne.info.

Acne Skin Care Treatment : Prescription Method
By Wyatt Lee
It is a well-known fact that most acne sufferers do not seek the professional advice of a qualified doctor to treat their acne condition. The idea here is to consult a skin specialist, also known as a dermatologist, who can give you valuable information, advice and tips on how to treat your acne.

If your acne condition is only moderate and not serious, then you can go for the over-the-counter type of medications. But please do seek the help of a dermatologist if your acne has reached a severe state, where he will recommend some prescription medications. However, it is still advisable to go for the prescription method even if your acne is mild, because the prescription method tends to be much more effective than what over-the-counter method can offer.

There are basically two types of prescription acne skin care treatments, namely antibiotics and ointments. Antibiotics are the common agent used to combat acne, and they can be used as a type of lotion, or taken orally. Ointment prescriptions include ingredients such as zinc or retinoid.

Antibiotics

Tetracycline is the most common antibiotic used to treat your acne condition. What the tetracycline does is kill the bacteria which causes the acne, and it also helps to reduce any inflammation which may result from the acne. One thing you should know about antibiotic treatment is that it may take up to a few weeks or even months to see the effect. Not only that, you must continue the antibiotic treatment even after your acne has subsided.

Just like any other medications out there, the tetracycline antibiotic does have side effects. It will increase your skin’s overall sensitivity to sun light, which will lead to severe sun burns if you stay under the sun for a prolonged period. Other possible side effects include dizziness and stomach upset.

Ointments

Antibiotic ointments generally

have lesser complications as compared to oral antibiotics. They are highly useful when it comes to killing the bacteria which caused your acne. When the ointments are used in conjunction with other treatments like benzoyl peroxide, the bacteria may not develop resistance to the antibiotics.

Retinoid

Derived from vitamin A, retinoid can be applied directly onto the skin in the form of creams or lotions. Retinoid medications are particularly useful for treating blackheads and whiteheads by opening up clogged pores. The one common side effect of retinoid is that you will experience dry skin.

If your acne condition is so severe that it doesn’t respond to either antibiotics or ointments, then oral retinoid can be your next option. What an oral retinoid does is to cause the upper most layer of your skin to peel off, and in the process opens up more pores. Oral retinoid can also restrict the body from producing excess sebum, the oily substance which is responsible for your oily skin.

Oral retinoids must be used with caution, because there are known serious side effects and complications that comes with this type of retinoid. They can cause birth defects if a woman takes them during pregnancy. Other complications include depression and liver damage. So if an acne sufferer is on oral retinoid treatment, then regular medical attention and follow-up is required to make sure that the side effects and complications are reduced to the minimum.

If you are not sure of the reliability of over-the-counter medications, then always seek the advice of your dermatologist who can give you reliable prescription medication, and other advice for the most effective acne skin care treatment for your particular condition.

Acne Scar Solution

Acne Scar Solutions
By Peter Emerson

Acne is a common skin infection that affects over 80% of youth and 5% of adults. When acne eventually heals, it leaves ugly blemishes called acne scars. These become permanent if they are not treated in time. Acne scars are damaging to the ego and personality of an individual, and a lot of time and money has been invested in research to treat this problem.

Acne scars are classified by size, shape and appearance they are identified as Icepick, Boxcar and Rolling. They are also tagged as early or permanent on the basis of their duration. Early scars respond well to topical medications. Permanent scars require surgical intervention. Presently, scars are treated with combinations of topical skin care medications in tandem with carefully selected surgical and skin resurfacing procedures.

At least a half dozen surgical procedures are also performed to repair acne scars. Each has benefits and pitfalls and a surgeon will closely examine the patient’s age, sex, medical history, skin type and type of scarring before agreeing to perform surgery. Cost is also discussed, as it can be quite expensive.
When dermal fillers are used, a surgeon will inject fillers such as collagen and hyaluronic acid derivatives into the skin. This raises the base of the scar to the level of

normal skin. The “punch excision” procedure is used in icepick and boxcar type scars and relies on making incisions in the skin with a punch biopsy tool and stitching the skin edges together. The new scar heals, leaving a clear skin. Punch excision with skin graft replacement is a variant of the punch excision method. Instead of suturing the skin after excision, surgeons use a skin graft to repair the scar.

Punch elevation is used on deep boxcar scars that have sharp edges and normal appearing bases. Here the base of the scar is excised and elevated to the surface of the skin. Sutures and glue are used to join the edges together. Subcutaneous Incision is used for treating rolling scars and centers on the use of a special beveled needle that is inserted under the skin and used to cut the binding tissue in the scar. The resulting bruises fade after about 1 week. Laser resurfacing is used to burn the top layer of the skin and reduce it to the same level as the base of the scars.

Prevention is always better than cure. Simple precautions such as avoiding strong sunlight, using medications like tretinoin and alpha hydroxyl acids, avoiding picking scabs, regular exercising and dietary control go a long way in preventing acne scars and saving a lot of embarrassment and expenses.

Useful Information On Acne Scar Treatments
By Ras Reed
If you have ever undergone acne, then you perhaps would have known what an invaliding distress it is. I have undergone bad skin ever since I was a youngster. So I am very accustomed to the disgrace and mortification that often keep company with getting a face covered in pimples. One unique thing about this skin drawback is that it sometimes does not go away absolutely and in harsh cases it contributes to scarring. This happened to me, and it meant that I had to face the prospect of carrying around reminders of my skin troubles all over my complete life. appreciatively for me, I found out numerous acne scar treatments that have worked the miracle for countless folks.

Though my dermatologist had been citing the chance of acne scar treatments to me for years, financial drawbacks precluded me from accessing it. This was because my insurance company sees acne scar treatments as elective cosmetic procedures; it means I have to pay for everything out of my pocket. The fees was certainly too giant for me to endure at the time.

But, as is usual in most cases, things have interchanged with time for me. this moment, acne scar treatments are reasonably priced more than ever before and are on hand everywhere. From my uncoverings, I found out that they are more effective as well. So, I finally made up my mind to take the plunge and get the acne scar treatments that I had been procrastinating for so long.

primarily, I had to take the form of medicine that would be just right for me. As you might

have known, there are several individual forms of acne scar treatments on the market. This means that I have to do some exploration on the subject matter. I found out that deciding on the true one is decided by two things. One is the hardness of the scarring. The other one is the figure of currency you are willing to use. For cases where the scarring is more or less superficial, an over-the-counter creams and ointments may be the honest solution. But for more intense cases, a new acne scar treatments like prescribed medications and laser therapy is really suitable.

Another thing I found out is that acne scar treatments can only assist abate the effects of the scarring but most likely will not completely put off the scars. Even so, I saw dramatic changes in the before and after photos of patients that my dermatologist flaunted to me during the interview. But my dermatologist also stroke a chord in my memory that each patient’s case is clear-cut and thence the outcome will almost certainly differ from one person to another. nevertheless I am already strong-minded to experience acne scar treatment.

All in all, I have to accept that this was one of the perfect decisions I have ever made. I am relieved to explain to you that my skin’s appearance did recuperate after receiving the acne scar treatments I preferred. Now, I feel like a whole new person. If your skin is making you feel bemused and excluding you from enjoying your life, I counsel you to check up on some acne scar treatments straight away.

I know it may not make you better. But what I am going to tell you, will. It is about prevention and the treatment of acne. Prevention is a very important part of comedone treatment, especially avoidance of picking, moisturizers and harsh soaps. Please remember that Acne surgery is only an adjunct of good medical therapy.

On the other hand, there are several advantages of Acne Surgery which made it popular. First no harmful drugs are involved, so there are no side effects. Second, conducting an Acne Surgery needs less time, the patients may get back to normal activities after the surgery. Third, unlike the medical treatment, separate your skin type, Acne Surgery is effective for everyone

There are mainly two kinds of Acne Surgery, one is called laser acne surgery. This surgery follows several surgical approaches for removing acne lesions. It mainly includes opening up comedones and pimples by using a needle or small pointed blade and expressing the lesions with an extractor.

There are some common risk factors involved with surgery. Severe acne problems may cause deep cysts, inflammation, extensive damage to the skin and scarring. It needs an aggressive treatment regimen and should be treated by a dermatologist. The surgery must be followed up by a course of antibiotics to make sure that it does not cause for further infection.

The other most involved process of reducing acme problems is called excisional surgery. This surgery is used for severe acne cysts to drain and remove them. This process is risky and it is normally not used. This is a more extensive process it should never be performed anywhere except in a sterile environment with a properly trained and skilled professional. This sterile environment will control the spread of bacteria to decrease the risk of infection.

After given it a thorough thought, you should have reached your own mind whether to take the surgery for acne, or not.

just washing the surface of your skin or by taking an antibiotic that a doctor tells you to take. An acne diet will help you to heal your body from the inside instead of the outside. This is the most effective way to fight against it.

Some Natural Treatments For Teenage Acne

Some Natural Treatments For Teenage Acne
By Jim Baldwin
Whether you are a teenager who has acne or you are someone who is looking to help someone who is, you may find that you are in a situation where you are simply tired of the over the counter acne cures and astringents! The truth of the matter is that there are many different ways to treat acne, and that many of the regular acne treatments might not work at all and might actually make it worse! Have you noticed that many acne treatments sting a little? You are feeling your skin being dried out, which will make the acne itself worse as the skin cracks and splits. Take the time to think about natural treatments for teenage acne and see what you can do.

The first thing that you need to think about is that natural treatments for teenage acne do not include restricting diet. It is a myth that acne is caused by eating oily foods or chocolate, though those foods can certainly make you feel slow and sluggish. Remember that acne is caused by a change in hormones, and that this is why it is so common in young

people going through puberty. Eat all the chocolate you like; it has nothing to do with your acne.

Another thing that you should think about is that your skin should be clean, but it does not need to be squeaky clean. If you put something on your face that stings, there is a good chance that you are not going to have your skin feeling as healthy as it should; you don't want to dry it out. You'll find that when you are looking to clean your skin that you might want to try simply washing with water. This can go a long way towards making your skin feel a great deal healthier and it can also help your acne heal more quickly.

When you have a particularly bad patch of acne that won't go away, you might want to consider some mild astringents to help things along. Avoid over the counter cures because they will in all likelihood be harsher than necessary, and stick with diluted tea tree oil or diluted witch hazel. Either of these will clean your skin without hurting it the way that harsher chemicals will.

Acne Scarring Removal

Acne Scarring Removal: There Are Many Methods Of Scars Removal To Choose From
By Cavyl Stewart
The key to success with many things, including acne scarring removal, is to take the time to find what solution is best for your own situation. For instance, when treating acne scars, many might prefer to try home remedies, while others go straight for store-bought products and solutions. Then again, depending on your goals and your budget, you may even find that you would rather have a medical procedure done to improve the look of your skin. There are a lot of things that affect the decision in the end, such as what you want to spend, how ambitious your goals are, and what your skin is like.

Acne scarring removal with home remedies

Often, those that suffer from the presence of acne scars start with home remedies. This is because of all the acne scarring removal methods, home remedies are the cheapest and easiest to perform. Many of them use items you already have at home. For example, you can use regular old ice cubes to improve your skin’s quality by rubbing them on your face for about ten to fifteen minutes. It doesn’t get much less expensive than ice cubes! Of course, there are tons more home remedies that you can find if you put in a little effort.

Acne scarring removal with over the counter products

For

those who prefer to try a product found on store shelves instead of experimenting with home remedies, there are many alternatives to choose from. There are dozens of products out there that specialize in acne scarring removal, all with a wide variety of ingredients, prices and levels of effectiveness. It can be a bit frustrating trying them all out while trying to find one that works the way that you want it to, so a bit of patience and some deep pockets may be necessary.

Acne scarring removal with professional treatments

Finally, many still will decide to go for surgical methods to reduce acne scarring. This may be because of a lack of results from home remedies and over the counter acne scarring removal products, or because the person is looking for more drastic results (or has more serious acne scars). The surgical methods that are readily used include those such as punch excisions, laser treatments, and dermabrasion.

Obviously, those methods are a bit more expensive, as they require a dermatologist’s expertise. Actually, it is usually best if you consult with a dermatologist before looking into any type of treatment, as they can provide a lot of expertise and knowledge that will be useful to you.
There's no reason you should sit there and be embarrassed about your acne scars any longer when you can choose from any one of the different acne scarring removal methods to zap those scars once and for all and take back your beautiful, clear skin. And for more tips, advice and reviews of products to get rid of your acne scars fast.

Home Remedies For Acne

Acne Forms Combined With Acne Free Diets
By jojo27
Before we go into specific foods to avoid and eat, you have to understand that acne is caused by the over production of sebum on surface of our skin. High-fat foods promote sebaceous glands to produce more sebum. So you must try to reduce the use of a few aliments that can harm you.

Unfortunately, less ham, sausage and other preserved foods, less chocolates, coffee and alcoholic drinks could be the best way to combat acne. Besides, don’t forget to consume more vegetables, and fruits to maintain gastrointestinal system health. And if you have the time to do it, please try to do more sports, and less standing in front of your computer or your tv.

Foods that help to combat acne

Drinking more soy milk may help to reduce acne in a big part.
Washing your face with garlic juice mixed with warm can help remove acne pigment. There is also some thought that including garlic as part of your diet has some definite benefits. You won’t smell very nice, but you may „escape” from the acne.

Vitamin A and Zinc are the basic compounds responsible for control of the sebaceous glands secretion. Vitamin A has shown many benefits in helping skin regeneration. Foods contain rich Vitamin A and Zinc include spinach, lettuce, apricots, mangos, soybeans, eggplants, lentils, cabbage, carrots, green onions, pumpkins, tomatoes, powdered milk and many others.

Vitamins B2 & B6 accelerate the oxidation of cells, helping the skin to heal acne quickly.
Vitamin B can easily be found in most green leafy vegetables and fish. Also, Vitamin B can be obtained from foods such as liver, eggs, seaweed (dry), peas, yeast, chicken, cattle, carrots, bananas, and grapes.

Vitamin E is everything when it comes to beautiful skin, and recent studies have shown that people suffering from acne have a vitamin E deficiency. Foods containing Vitamin E include soybean oils, nuts, mushrooms etc.
High fiber foods help your metabolism and promote the intestinal peristalsis and helps your body dispose of excess grease. High fiber foods include whole wheat, coarse grains, soybean and bamboo shoots.

Change your eat habits

In conclusion, combating acne by changing of our eating habits could be the first and most natural way. Pay attention to your diet, nothing what you eat and what effects it has on your acne can pay off in big dividends. Understanding your skin type and selecting the suitable acne products would be the next important step after establishing healthy eating habits. We can find many natural acne treatment and skin care products online but which is really the best? We have to take care of ourselves, because if we don’t, no one will.

Proactive Acne

7 Tips For Curing Teen Acne
By Jim Baldwin
Teen acne is a major source of confusion and bafflement to teens across the world. There seems to be little warning when teens wake up, look in the mirror and discover to their horror they have acne.

The first thing a teen should not do is try to squeeze all of the puss out of the pimples. When you discover you have a pimple the first reaction is to want to pop it, but this just makes things worse. To make things even worse, all of that area that the teen squeezed is now loaded with bacteria that can infect other areas, causing more blemishes to crop up.

Teen acne will hit almost every adolescent at some time before reaching adulthood. The short answer is it's the hormones in flux. The childhood body is fighting the adult body that wants to start growing from within.

Suddenly the teens body is flooded with a hormonal push that begins to increase bacterial sweat to start becoming more oily and clogging up the pores in the face, shoulders, and back areas the most. Thus, pimples.

Teen acne can best be warded off by learning a few simple tricks.

1. When washing your face make sure you aren't making the mistake of scrubbing too hard or washing too often. This will only make your skin produce even more oil, which just makes your acne worse.

2. If you are using make-up, stop. Check out what type of make-up you have been using to ensure that this stuff is not feeding the acne. There are natural cosmetics that will not irritate your acne problem that are on the market.

3. Get soap for yourself that is mild for sensitive skin. There are some soaps that are made to fight acne. The important thing is to stop using harsh soaps. They will only serve to be abrasive to the teen acne condition.

4. Remove dead skin cells everyday using a natural exfoliant. Use this as recommended by the brand you purchase. There are many different exfoliants that are made for fighting acne.

5. The bacteria in those acne pores and the surrounding area need to be looked after. In the morning and before going to bed, clean the effected areas using anti-bacterial agents like peroxide, alcohol or creams made for this. It will help kill the bacteria quickly and allow the skin to regenerate itself.

6. Maintain a regimen to fight the acne. You cannot effectively go into battle against teen acne one day then take the next day off. This a warfare. You must stay on top of this acne or else it will win!

7. If you are really serious about getting rid of your acne for good, and keeping it gone you should purchase a full acne treatment system.

Adult Acne

7 Tips To Prevent Adult Acne!
By Temitayo Olatunde
Most people have the mindset that acne is cause by dirt alone and so an individual with so much adult acne breakouts must be a person with poor hygiene. In case you didn't know, acne is not caused by dirt! Acne is caused by factors that are beyond your control. Factors like your hormonal imbalance and the pace of your skin's renewal system. Luckily for you there are a few things you can do to keep your acne pimples under control. Just follow these 7 tips for healthy-skin hygiene.

Tip #1: Since we know that adult acne is not caused by dirt, there is no need to over wash your skin. Extreme washing and scrubbing would not make your acne disappear; there is no point over-washing or over-scrubbing. You should only wash your skin twice a day, anything above that would leave your skin dry. Excessive washing of your skin may stimulate extra oil production and lead to more acne breakouts.

Tip #2: Avoid harsh scrubbing! You can exfoliate, but only use a gentle formula with smooth and small grains. Also some certain products containing apricot or almond shell fragments can irritate your skin. This could increase your acne breakouts or leave you with scars.

Tip #3: Avoid products containing alcohol. Contrary to what you must have heard concerning alcohol and adult acne, products containing alcohol removes the top layer of your skin. This causes your skin to produce more oil. And this results in a dry, red skin which leads to more acne pimples. Avoid products with a high concentration of isopropyl alcohol and also avoid rubbing alcohol on your skin.

Tip #4: If you have itchy hands, keep them in your pocket! DO NOT squeeze or pick your acne pimples with your hands, fingernails, pins or anything at all. Doing this would only push the acne causing bacteria farther into your skin. And this would only result in more adult acne breakouts, inflammations and infection. Also squeezing or picking your acne pimples would damage the surrounding skin and you would be left with a permanent ugly scar!

Tip #5: Asides squeezing and picking your "zits", you should still keep your hands off your face. Acne causing bacteria resides on the surface of your skin; it does not cause acne breakouts except it gets locked inside your hair pores. Therefore touching and rubbing your face excessively would only drive these bacteria deep inside your hair follicle where they would start doing their dirty work!

Tip #6: Whenever you finish your exercise workouts, wash off immediately. Exercising releases heat from your skin and there is friction between your skin and your clothing or equipment. When you shower you remove heat and moisture that are trapped against your skin. This prevents the spread of acne causing bacteria on your skin. If you can't shower immediately, make sure you use a dry, clean towel to remove sweat off your skin.

Tip #7: Since acne is also cause by internal factors like hormones, you should find a product that can tackle your acne problem from both the outside and the inside. An acne treatment that combats your acne problem from the inside and the outside is your best bet in erasing acne from your skin totally.

Following these tips alongside using a quality product is sure to totally wipe acne pimples off your skin.

Acne Scars Healing: Choosing The Right Strategy For Healing Acne Scarring
By Cavyl Stewart
If you are interested in acne scars healing, the good news is that there are a number of ways to go about meeting that goal. However, one particularly frustrating side effect of having so many possible strategies and solutions is that it can be very hard to find the right one. With so many ways to attempt to reduce the appearance of unsightly acne scars, where does one start? Generally, it is always best to start at home.

Home remedies and over the counter treatments

The easiest and least expensive ways to rid yourself of acne scars are to either try home remedies or over the counter acne scar removal products. Either strategy is a viable one, but the approach is very different. With home remedies, you are trying to use normal household items or natural ingredients to improve the quality of your skin. With dozens and dozens of them out there to try, there is a certain amount of trial and error involved.

With over the counter products, on the other hand, you will find that many have very similar ingredients and similar approaches to zapping acne and acne scars. Sadly, the difference between many brands of acne scar products has to do more with marketing and advertising than product quality. With products found in stores, you will want to cut down on trial and error, as they can be costly items. Instead, it is best to thoroughly research the products that are available in stores, to ensure that you make the right purchase the first time.

Professional treatments

More drastic methods of acne scars healing include those that require the care of a dermatologist, such as skin peels, laser treatments, and dermabrasions or microdermabrasions. These are usually reserved for those that either have more ambitious goals for how they want their skin to look, or for those that have serious acne scarring issues. If you find that store-bought products and home remedies aren’t getting the job done to the degree that you would prefer, you may want to talk to a dermatologist about one of these options.

It is important to be realistic about your acne scars healing. Solutions that claim to be “miracle cures” are often disappointments waiting to happen in reality. If there was an easy and cheap way to rid yourself of acne and acne scars forever, everyone would be using it! However, there are ways to really change the way your face looks for the better, if you take the time to do some research.
There's no reason you should sit there and be embarrassed about your acne scars any longer when there are numerous acne scars healing methods that you can use to zap those scars once and for all and take back your beautiful, clear skin. Acne Treatment

Acne Treatment - Past To Present
By David C Mitchell
The first acne treatments developed by Dermatologists differ little from some medications you can buy up today at almost any drugstore. Sulur was used to dry out the skin causing the blemish to peel and loosen impactations in clogged pores.

By the 1950's lotions included anti-bacterial ingredients along with sulfur. The main problem with sulphur was that it normally tended to lose efficacy with prolonged use.

It wasn't until the use of the first antibiotic, penicillin, in acne medications that more effective antibacterial treatments came into use. However, penicillin turned out to have very little effect on acne. Fortunately, other antibiotics were discovered (namely tertracycline) that did work. This medication, along with clindamycin and erythromycin became the preferred acne treatment for many years.

Benzoyl peroxide has been used for treating acne since the 1920's. It became available as both an over-the-counter treatment and through prescription (at higher strengths). Its long lasting popularity is credited to its antibacterial properties. Benzoyl peroxide also limited the secretion of certain oils that contained fatty acids known to contribute to acne flare-ups.

Vitamin A acid (Retin-A) was developed in the late 60's and became another important acne treatment when it came to the market in the early 1970s. Vitamin A helps reduce the formation of blackheads, whiteheads and other acne lesions. However, many patients have experienced significant swelling in the first few weeks of use, this causes some patients to stop using it.

This has been a problem with many acne treatments, they can cause extreme irritation and are inflammatory. It seems contradictory that the cure is similar to the problem - both were inflammatory.

Building on the discovery of vitamin A, the retinoic acid derivative isotretinoin was released in 1982. It has been proven effective for the treatment of an extreme form of acne known as cystic acne. It is normally taken over 20 weeks and for those affected by severe cases it has proven nothing short of a miracle. It does has a number of possible severe side effects such as: a sudden inability to see at night, intra-cranial pressure, inflammation of the liver and severe birth defects.

Oral contraceptives have also proven effective for women with acne. They work by normalizing hormonal changes that can cause acne.

Alpha hydroxy acids, such as glycolic acid are other acne treatments. They proved effective at increasing the shedding of skin cells, this helps to clear out blocked follicles. They are also popular for their anti-inflammatory properties.

In addition to these, acne patients have been subjected to some other unusual treatments over the years. Over 50 years German physicians X-rayed their acne patients. The treatment was considered extremely effective at drying up the oil glands, it was even used to remove facial hair. Fast forward to today and this therapy is known to have caused multiple skin cancers and cancer of the thyroid in these patients from the radiation.
